Hemorrhoidectomy

What is a Hemorrhoidectomy?

A hemorrhoidectomy is a surgery in which you are put under a general anesthetic and the hemorrhoids are surgically removed. Because it is a highly sensitive area and you receive stitches, the area can be exceptionally tender and painful afterwards. Since this surgery is very painful, it is only recommended if lifestyle changes have not helped, hemorrhoid banding has failed or was not an available option.

Please see attached handout on managing hemorrhoids.
